I’m sure this is not the first time you have heard about juice cleansing… but exactly why do people do it?
Juice cleansing is an amazing way to restore your body’s harmony. Only when our cells are properly nourished can we function to our optimum level. Unfortunately, nowadays we are exposed to far too many chemicals, processed foods, medication and pollution and as a result most of us never feel as amazing as we should do. Most of us actually assume that this is the way we are supposed to feel. BUT IT’S NOT!!!!
During a juice cleanse you only consume juice, herbal teas and water. This ensures your body stays super well hydrated, allowing your cells to feed only on pure goodness, while giving your digestive system a chance to rest. Everyone is different, but most people feel the benefits of a juice cleanse after just three days. Toxins will be flushed from your body, your energy will increase and you will have an overall sense of wellbeing.
Our method of juicing (using a hydraulic 2 stage press) completely extracts all of the nutrients, vitamins, enzymes and minerals from the vegetables and fruit, so your body will be flooded with these.
The benefits of juice cleansing are endless, but below is a list of the most common ones:
Improved mental clarity
Weight Loss
Increased energy
Better sleep
Reduced allergy symptoms
Improved digestion
Shinier and stronger hair and nails
Glowing skin
Below we share some tips to help you make the most of your experience.
BEFORE THE CLEANSE
When choosing what juice cleanse to go for its a good idea to consider your experience at cleansing. If you’re new to cleansing, choose a 1 or 3 day cleanse, whereas if you are more experienced and have cleansed multiple times, select a 5 day cleanse.
It is very important to prepare. For the three days prior to starting your juice cleanse, eliminate processed food, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, dairy and meat from your diet. This will reduce the ‘cold turkey’ symptoms associated with giving up all those foods.
DURING THE CLEANSE
Choose your time wisely. If you are having a very busy week at work, it might not be the best time to do a cleanse. You need to be ready for it. During my first juice cleanse the hardest thing for me was getting used to not chewing food! This will pass by day 2.
Make sure you stay hydrated between juices and keep drinking plenty of filtered water and herbal teas (no caffeine). Also ensure you are getting plenty of rest: book a massage, a facial, go to a gentle yoga or pilates class..think about nourishing your body from all angles.
Some people experience cold turkey symptoms during a juice cleanse. These may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, constipation, runny nose, skin blemishes and nausea. Maybe one, maybe none. Your digestive system gets some much-needed time off and your radiant body gets to work on other things: releasing toxins and adjusting to the clean nutrients it is being gifted. There is no need to worry—in fact, although unpleasant, symptoms are often a good sign. Better out than in!
AFTER THE CLEANSE
You made it! Well done! Now, try to stay on the good track and start feeding yourself nourishing, healthy, simple foods. Avoid refined carbohydrates, caffeine, alcohol and processed food in general.
The more gently you re-introduce foods into your diet, the better off you’ll be.
