So what’s all this fuss about cold pressed juice? Well, not all juices are the same and here’s why:
Cold pressed juices are the best way to replenish your daily need of vitamins, minerals and enzymes, which we need to make us feel amazing! And why are they the best? Because no heat is produced and the amount of oxygen is minimised during the extraction process. Heat and oxygen are the main factors responsible for the nutritional loss in your juice.
There are a lot of different types of juicers nowadays, from centrifugal, to masticating , to hydraulic presses. Not sure what I’m talking about? Here’s a brief explanation:
Centrifugal juicers: these are the most popular juicers and the easiest ones to find. Literally 99% of juicers for sale are centrifugal. They are affordable, usually quick to clean and produce juice in a matter of seconds. The cons: Spins at high RPM (between 3,000 ~ 16,000) and as a result you are deprived of the precious nutrients and enzymes that get destroyed using heat. The high RPM spinning traps a lot of air that quickly oxidises your juice. Oxidation is harmful to your body as it is a cause of many diseases. This juice cannot be stored as it will oxidate within 10-20 minutes so it must be consumed right away.
Masticating juicers: These are the perfect home juicers ( I have 2 at home). They spin at a slower rate and introduce less heat and oxygen than a centrifugal juicer. They are more pricey for sure (around €200-€1000), but if you are serious about juicing it is worth investing in one. Having said this, if the juicer is spinning to produce the pulp, it is not technically a cold pressed juice (see Hydraulic press below).
Hydraulic press :by far the best way to juice. This is a 2 stage machine. A hydraulic press actually grinds the produce wholly into a fine pulp, after which it applies thousands of pounds of pressure to this pulp, extracting every ounce of juice that the fruit or vegetable can possibly yield. The results are nutritious, smooth-tasting juices. The gentle pressing action allows for little to no air to be introduced into the juice, and because of this each bottle can be kept in sealed, refrigerated containers for up to 3 days with little loss of taste or nutritional value. This is what we use at THE JUICE WORKS.
So why choose our juices? Im pretty sure if you had a formula one racing car you would never think about fuelling it with regular petrol, would you? You would put the best available fuel so it can perform at its best. So why would do any different with your body?
By drinking cold press vegetable based juices you will feel better physically and mentally. A more balanced and refreshed body. You will sleep better, you will improve your digestion and reduce inflammation. So what’s not to like?
Remember your body is your home. Without it, you have nowhere to live. LOOK AFTER IT.
